Foothills Medicare Certified Hospice Program focuses on the quality of life for individuals who
are coping with an advanced illness and limited life expectancy.
Hospice focuses on the person, not the disease, on comfort rather than on cure.
The patient and the family, together, are the unit of care.
In addition to expert pain and symptom control, the patient and family receive emotional, psychological and spiritual support from a team of caring professionals consisting of: the patient’s physician, a hospice physician, hospice nurses, a social worker, a pharmacist and a pastoral counselor.
Physical, occupational and speech therapists, a dietician, home health aides and volunteers are also part of the team.
Care is usually provided at a person’s home but may also be offered in a nursing home, assisted living facility or in a hospital.
Hospice services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
